Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) fighters have seized some of the weapons and munitions intended for Kurdish ground forces battling against the militant group for control over the embattled town of Kobani, Syria, activists said on Tuesday.
According to U.S. Central Command, military forces conducted air drops on Monday to deliver medical supplies, weapons and ammunition from Kurdish authorities to aid efforts in eliminating ISIS presence in Kobani.

Twenty-seven caches had been air dropped. One of these reportedly went off course but was subsequently destroyed, the BBC reported.
However, militants apparently got hold of one bundle. A video surfaced on the Internet that showed a cache containing shells, hand grenades and missile launchers in the hands of the extremists. The video was reportedly uploaded by Islamic State supporters.
The supporters also took to social media to post thank you messages to the U.S. for the weapons, including an image bearing the words "Team USA," according to the Associated Press.
This seems to corroborate a report from the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights group that said militants were able to seize one cache.
State Department spokesperson Marie Harf said Pentagon officials had already seen the video but that it was too early to either confirm or deny its accuracy.
While Pentagon spokesperson Rear Adm. John Kirby said the defense department was still confirming the video's authenticity, he said the kinds of material shown in the video were similar to those that were dropped.
"It's not entirely impossible in that regard," he said, adding that further details would be provided as the investigation into the matter progresses.
The ISIS has already commandeered millions of dollars worth of U.S. weapons from Iraqi soldiers who retreated after the former advanced into territories in Iraq in June.
Now, the militant group in Syria is seeking to gain control of Kobani. To date, clashes with Kurdish forces in the area have been going on for more than a month and have displaced some 200,000 locals.
