Google's Sundar Pichai To Oversee All Products, Services

Google has had another management change-up, distancing CEO Larry Page from most of the day-to-day operations on products and services, leaving that duty to Executive Sundar Pichai.
Pichai already manages Chrome and Android, but he will now be in charge of Google+, Search, Maps, advertising and all the other sectors of Google. Pichai will still report to Page, who will now have more time to work on newer technologies. YouTube will still report directly to Page, however.

This is not the first time CEO Larry Page and co-founder Sergey Brin have tried to distance themselves from everyday work at the company. Brin has been working heavily with the Google X team to create new products like the self-driving car and Google Glass.
Several high-profile Google executives have left the company in the past two years, including Marissa Mayer who left to become the CEO, Chief Business Officer Nikesh Arora, Social Networking Manager Vic Gundotra and Vice President of Android Hugo Barra.
This has allowed Sundar Pichai to gain a lot of control over the company, enough to implant him in almost every service that generates large amounts of revenue for Google. He is noted as the third-most important member in Google, above Eric Schmidt but below the two founders.
It is reported that if CEO Larry Page were to retire, Sundar Pichai would be the next-CEO. However, it doesn't look like Page is interested in retiring any time soon - the management change simply allows Page to focus on new product categories that might give Google new revenue streams.
Larry Page will work on access, energy, Nest, Calico, Google X, corporate development, finance, ad-sales and legal. Page seems to be focused on Calico, Google's health firm, working to create anti-aging materials.
