(Photo : Reuters) Samsung is preparing to launch their new smartwatch, the Gear S, in the U.S. on November 7, in a whole range of carriers and retailers.
Samsung is active on two different platforms when it comes to wearables - Android Wear and its own Tizen OS. The Gear S, its next smartwatch, will come running Tizen OS, and has a reported launch date of Nov. 7 in the U.S.
Samsung has added Tizen OS onto the Gear S, their own platform, which they have been working on with Intel for the past few years. There is still no smartphone that supports the platform, but the previous Gear smartwatches have used Tizen OS, instead of Android Wear.

The Gear S is one of the largest smartwatches coming in 2014, with a 2-inch AMOLED display. The screen is slightly curved, to offer a fully circular design. Internally, the Gear S will run on a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
Tizen OS has some apps available, like Samsung S Health and Nike+ Running. Samsung likes to get a few partnerships with subscription apps - it is almost expected of the company - considering the price of the Gear S.
The Gear S will be coming to all four major carriers in the U.S. AT&T will offer the smartwatch for $200 on a two-year contract, similar to most high-end smartphones. T-Mobile and Sprint will offer zero down-payment and 24 month payments, at $14.58 and $16 per month, respectively. Verizon Wireless has given no details as to their plans.
This will come alongside being able to buy the Gear S outright at Samsung's Experience Stores and Best Buy. No word of if Samsung intends to expand the retail range for the Gear S - Walmart would be the next big step if they want full penetration in the U.S.
