Pennsylvania Court Arraigns Cop-Killer Eric Frein

After being arrested Thursday following a seven-week long manhunt, suspected cop killer Eric Frein was arraigned Friday at a Milford, Pennsylvania, court.

Frein arrived at the courthouse wearing an orange jumpsuit and with several cuts and bruises, which authorities said he got while on the run.

In the courtroom, Frein said "yes" when the judge asked him if he understood his charges, which was a capital murder charge for Pennsylvania State Police Corporal Bryon Dickson's death.

According to Raymond Tonkin, district attorney at Pike County, there was no plea given during Friday's hearing, and a preliminary hearing  was set for November 12.

Despite it being their job to capture law breakers, the capture of Frein by the Pennsylvania authorities was more personal than other cases, because he was being sought for killing a state trooper using a high-powered rifle.

Frein, who was shown with a small cut after living in the forest for seven weeks, was shackled with the handcuffs owned by Dickson. He was also transported using Dickson's police car.

During the shooting which killed Dickson, another trooper, 31-year-old Alex Douglass, was seriously injured.

According to USA Today, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett said Frein will "finally face justice."

State Police Lieutenant Colonel George Bivens said authorities found Frein Thursday at around 6 p.m. at a field close to an abandoned hangar at a Tannersville airport.

After the capture, troopers interviewed Frien, according to Bivens, who refused to further elaborate on the matter.

When reporters asked Bivens his opinion on why Frein shot Dickson, the police colonel said he would stand by his previous statement that it was a "purely evil" act.

In addition, Bivens shared that there were weapons found at the hangar where Frein stayed, which are now being collected for processing.

Meanwhile, state police commissioner Frank Noonan said during a media conference that the rest of the Pennsylvania troops were intent on seeing the fugitive arrested.

"I'm glad it ended without any other loss of life, including his," he added.
