Jay Z has relaunched Tidal, his own music streaming service.
Norwegian innovative media technology company Aspiro Group recently unveiled Tidal Music, a new music streaming service that uses traditional compact disc (CD) audio sound quality.
Aspiro launched Tidal Music last week in the U.S and the U.K. The company aims to the bring high sound quality of CDs back to life with the new music streaming service.

Tidal Music provides users with tracks that come in CD quality format, a 44 kHz or 16 bit audio recording with a data rate of 1.411 kilobit per second. Tidal uses a codec, either FLAC or ALAC, that will prevent any loss in audio sound quality.
FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec and ALAC stands for Apple Lossless Audio Codec. Users using Apple devices get ALAC, while the rest gets FLAC.
Unlike MP3 format, these codecs are "lossless." which means it allows audio compression without any loss in the original sound quality.
Reports claim the resolution Tidal uses far exceeds the quality of today's MP3 audio format. This puts Aspiro in a hot spot to compete against major players in the music streaming industry such as Spotify and Pandora.
The Oslo-based company also owns WiMP Music and RADR Music News (RMN).
WiMP is a streaming service that provides subscribers with Hi-Fi audio music quality along with High Definition videos. RMN, on the other hand, is a business-to-business video platform that offers publishers with music content for monetization.
Apparently, other companies such as PonoMusic also use the FLAC format for theie audio tracks and streaming services. PonoMusic, a company owned by Canadian Musician Neil Young, launched the PonoPlayer last month.
Young claims the PonoPlayer also provides users with higher quality of audio music. And it comes with a standalone device.
FLAC is currently considered the fastest and most widely supported lossless audio codec out there.
