Disney Movies Anywhere Now Works On Android

After a rather long spell on iOS-only, Disney Movies Anywhere has arrived on Android, allowing users of the largest mobile operating system to access The Walt Disney Company's extensive lineup of movies.
Disney originally announced the service for iOS devices, allowing users to download movies they had previously bought in other formats, including DVD, Blu-Ray, Disney apps, entertainment services and iTunes on another device.

The new update brings Android into the fold and allows the other 85 percent of mobile users to access this rather impressive selection of movies. Users can also buy movies off the in-built store, and re-download them on other platforms.
This has saved customers hundreds of dollars, enabling them to buy for one platform and then download on both iOS and Android. It makes buying movies on iOS or Android not so much of an ecosystem lock, since users can now switch between platforms without losing their content.
Disney's movie library contains over 400 movies from Disney, Pixar and Marvel, the three movie studios owned by The Walt Disney Company. Classics like Toy Story 3, Frozen, Thor and more are available on the service.
More big name TV and movie companies have started embracing the Internet as a place to both sell and stream their content. The Walt Disney Company has been investing heavily in new technology for Internet-only users to make sure they have access to their movies and TV programs.
Time Warner subsidiary HBO announced a new streaming service would be available in 2015 offering all of the best HBO content like Game of Thrones to Internet-only users in the U.S. CBS followed up shortly after with its own "All Access" service, offering over 4,000 videos on-demand.
This new interest comes from the growth of Netflix over the past five years from a provider of DVDs to the largest streaming network in the U.S. with more monthly subscribers than HBO on cable.
