Former Boston Celtics star and current Washington Wizards forward Paul Pierce told Sports Illustrated that he regrets the leaving the Celtics to join the Brooklyn Nets, and that he'll "definitely" be back in Boston some day.
Paul Pierce spent his first 15 years of his career for the Boston Celtics before mutually agreeing to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets along side Kevin Garnett just before for the 2013 season.

Pierce already went through a brutal rebuilding process with Boston in his early years before finally bringing a championship to the franchise for the first time in over two decades. It's no surprise that he was hesitant to go through another rebuild and instead decided to go to Brooklyn for a chance to contend for a title.
However once he arrived to Brooklyn, Pierce found himself in a similar situation and finished the season averaging the least amount of minutes and shot attempts in his entire career. This left Pierce questioning his decision to leave in the first place.
"A lot of emotion went into it," Piece told Sports Illustrated. "Going through what we went through last year, I had a lot of thoughts like, 'Shoot, I could have just stayed in Boston."
The 10-time All-Star seems to be doing much better in Washington's system so far this season, as he provides a veteran presence for the young core of John Wall and Bradley Beal and is back averaging more than 32 minutes per game. But when asked if he'll ever return back to Boston, Pierce replied that he certainly will one way or another.
"Definitely. Maybe as a player, maybe as a coach, maybe upstairs [in the front office]. I follow what they are doing. I went back to Boston twice this summer, went to their practice facility. I keep up with them," Pierce said.
Pierce returning to the Celtics organization as a player may seem like a long shot this late in his career, but Celtics fans can absolutely expect Paul "The Truth" Pierce to make his return to Boston in one way or another.
