Sony has announced a new cloud-based TV service, called PlayStation Vue, that will debut in 2015. The new service will include satellite and cable TV channels, and won't require a subscription.

PlayStation Vue will offer an invite-only beta in November, for select PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 owners, who frequent other TV apps. Sony is looking to push the service onto the iPad and other Sony tablet and phone devices, before a boarder launch in the U.S.

The beta includes 75 channels from top programmers, such as 21st Century Fox, NBCUniversal, Viacom and CBS, who recently announced its own Internet-only service, named CBS All Access.

Users will be able to watch the past three days of TV shows on-demand. The service should include all of the TV shows present on cable and satellite TV from the programmers listed, but there is still no cost per month announced for PlayStation Vue.

Sony's TV sales have been a huge burden on the company in the past few years, along with poor sales on mobile. Bringing the service to the PlayStation 4 first is a smart first step, bringing the service to a potential 8.1 million users.

Even though PlayStation Vue does not actively compete with Netflix, since Netflix is more focused on original programming and picking up movies and TV shows later in their lifespan, it could bring some Netflix subscribers over, who want more on-demand content.

The issue with most on-demand services is lackluster TV shows and the users not having enough time to catch-up with their latest season. PlayStation Vue will only offer three days catch-up time, not enough to catch-up with even two episodes of content from a season.

Sony will reveal more about PlayStation Vue after the beta is finished, most likely next year in January.
