Nokia may be back in the hardware business with the announcement of the N1 Android tablet, but they are not the only company in Finland working on a tablet.

Jolla, a company built from ex-Nokia employees, has announced a second tablet at the Slush 2014 startup conference. The tablet will be named simply 'Jolla Tablet' and will be available in 2015, after an IndieGogo crowd-funded campaign.

The tablet design is somewhat reminiscent of the Sony Xperia Tablet, with the rounded edge and minimalist front. There are some key difference between the two tablets, including the internals and software.

Starting with the internals, the Jolla Tablet offers 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory and a 5MP rear camera. It will feature a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 resolution display, similar to the iPad Mini and Nokia N1.

Jolla has been working on its own operating system for a few years now called Sailfish OS. On the tablet, Jolla is looking to make multi-tasking much easier, alongside other improvements on the tablet experience, compared to Android and iOS.

Sailfish OS does not have many first party applications, but can port Android apps over to the OS. Thanks to Jolla only using Sailfish OS on its own devices, it allows them to make sure Android ports don't look ugly or run poorly.

What is really interesting is the price - for basically the same specs as the Nokia N1 - the Jolla Tablet is $189 for IndieGogo buyers. It should be the same price for people who buy the tablet in 2015 as well, and it is not limited to the Chinese market.

For $189, this is a bargain tablet and the only questionable factor is Sailfish OS.
