"A smart and safe city system helps to improve incident prevention, enables efficient processing, supports investigations, and enhances national security." said Zhang Hongxi, Huawei's vice president of Northern Latin America region.
Huawei's safe city solution includes network access, intelligent analysis, video linkage, convergent command and video cloud.
Among the attendees are experts from the Global Security Industry Alliance (GSIA), SAP, Intergraph, Telmex, and Netherlands VCS, along with Huawei's customers from many Latin American countries.
"With urbanization as a global trend, technology plays an increasingly important role in enhancing the security of metropolitan areas", said Xu Mingxu, Huawei's President of Enterprise Business in Northern Latin America.
"With more than two decades of experience in ICT, Huawei will work hand in hand with industry partners to build a better connected world and smarter and safer cities in Latin America."
Reports say Huawei now provides safe city solutions for more than 60 cities across 30 countries. Last month, the Chinese giant announced plans to invest US$1.5 billion in Mexico to build new ICT facilities over the next five years. The project will also create 1,000 new jobs in the region.
