University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) Head Coach Bill Clark is fearful at what he believes to be the dying days of the school's football program. Last Sunday, he released a statement saying the school's football program is about to be shut down.
"I think it's going to happen. Unless somethingchanges before the week ends, I think it's over," said Clark, who led UAB to a 6-6 record in his first season at the school. "I think the odds are very high it ends this week. To shut the doors? That's sad."

Clark has reportedly been in contact with school Conference USA Officials. It seems that the UAB is struggling financially, as they have recently commissioned a university-wide strategic planning initiative to evaluate things like fiscal feasibility.
There have also been discussions taking place between athletic director Brian Mackin and UAB regarding separation agreements, sources told ESPN.
The UAB has exceeded the expectations of most critics and fans. They have improved dramatically on the field in the NCAA's academic ratings as well.
Clark has also succeeded in getting financial pledges from independent resources to help with improving certain facilities of the school. However, UAB wanted to move slow regarding any future commitments including any contract extension of Clark.
Clark conveyed his sympathy towards the players and fans who showed their commitment to the school.
The UAB is hopeful that they will be able to play at least one more game, but a bowl game is not guaranteed.
The UAB Blazers hold a 4-4 record in the conference, and a 6-6 overall record. Their last game, held last Sunday, November 29, saw them battle against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles in a 45-24 win.
The Blazers are currently ranked 75th in overall passing yards, 35th in overall rushing yards, 39th in points for, and 88th in points against.
