A source shared with Us Weekly that former lovers Katy Perry and John Mayer have definitely "reconnected" after the two were spotted on a dinner date in Beverly Hills over the weekend.
"Things just needed to cool down. They aren't officially back on but talking again," the source shared of the two who had a rather high-profile and tumultuous on-and-off relationship in the past.

The two tried their utmost to keep things quiet, and even decided to arrive in separate cars.
After the said dinner date, the two headed back to Perry's Los Angeles home. Mayer was said to have stayed at Perry's home until 4 pm the next day.
The insider shared that although Perry has been dating DJ Diplo for a few months, she isn't in it for the long run. Perry is said to have never been serious about the music producer, since she was too busy touring in the past year to have been in a serious relationship.
Perry and DJ Diplo were last spotted together in Morocco last October to celebrate the "Dark Horse" singer's 30th birthday.
Reportedly, one of the main reasons that Perry and Mayer decided to split was that they simply didn't have time for each other, and that the stress Perry was feeling from the tour pushed the two to continuously fight.
Perry, who used to be married to British comedian Russell Brand, shared with Harper's Bazaar last October that she needed to be single or awhile so that she could "learn about taking care" of herself.
Ironically, after Mayer and Perry broke up in the past, Mayer shared with Sirius Radio that women get back together with their former lovers because of fear.
"It is a connection to the past, a reaction to fear of the unknown. They go back with a guy they don't like just because they know how to get to his bathroom in the dark," Mayer shared.
