There has been much speculation as to what was supposed to go down during Katy Perry's Superbowl halftime show.
One was just how grand the performance from an artist who allegedly wanted to establish herself as THE leading pop star of this generation would be; the other would be whether she was going to throw shade at Taylor Swift.

So here's what really happened:
Perry spurred excitement from fans by tweeting a few hours before her performance.
"Today is the day that the Lord has made. "I will rejoice and be glad in it!" She posted.
She also had superstars Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot join her on stage for her 12 minute show. But those weren't the only stars sharing the stage with the "Dark Horse" singer.
A giant, blinged-out lion kicked off the performance with Perry as she did Roar and Dark Horse.
Kravitz rocked out with Perry for "I Kissed a Girl"; rapper Missy Elliot performed her hits, including "Get Ur Freak On", "Work It" and "Lose Control" for a little throwback.
Finally, the singer ended her performance with "Firework" as she floated (she was safely strapped in with harnesses) over the entire stadium.
As for the rumors regarding Perry putting Swift in her place during her performance, there were no overt or obvious attacks made against the "Out of the Woods" singer.
But hyper-observant fans did notice how Perry's backup dancers were sporting a trademark Swift look - 50s style polka dot bikinis, similar to one that Swift has previously been photographed wearing - during a segment of her Superbowl performance.
The two pop stars started feuding after Swift accused Perry of trying to sabotage her tour by snaking her backup dancers.
At some point, numerous sources began talking about Perry expressing her intent to put Swift in her place during one of her biggest performances of the year, the Superbowl halftime show.
Subtle yes, but there could be something there, nevertheless.
