Sony Targets 2016 for Project Morpheus Commercial Launch

Sony is looking towards a launch of its VR headset next year.
Sony has revealed a new prototype of Project Morpheus at Game Developer Conference earlier this week, claiming the VR headset is very close to a final version.
It's the first announcement by Sony about virtual reality in 2015 and comes at the same event where Valve is showing off Steam VR.

Project Morpheus is a full headset and the new improvements include a 5.7-inch OLED display offering less pixelation issues and fixing motion blur problems. Sony also claims the latency issues on the previous version have been solved with this new display.
The VR headset will be able to show video games at 120 frames per second and can natively support PlayStation 4 output. This might mean entertainment and even video games on the PS4 can be played on Project Morpheus.
Sony is looking to grab partners for an April developer launch of Project Morpheus. It will offer its own store for VR games and experiences and may offer a higher revenue share to VR developers that opt-in early.
For commercial sales, Sony is still holding off until 2016 before launching Project Morpheus. That means developers will have over a year to work on apps for the VR headset. There are no details on a public beta launch for the headset.
Sony brought a few of its own games to GDC earlier this week. London Heist was one of these games and featured PlayStation Move controls that allowed gamers to hide behind desks and search through desks for ammunition. It's one of the most visceral VR games but Sony gave no date for release on Oculus or any other platform.
