As Islamic State militants continue violent attacks in Syria's capital city Damascus, hundreds of Palestinian residents from Yarmouk camp run for safety at neighboring areas on Sunday.

Monitor group reported that in the past two days, hundreds of Yarmouk camp residents reached the Yalda, Babila and Beit Sahm in southern part of Damascus, which are also rebel-held areas but has recently reconciled with the government.

The three towns were able to have access for food and aids because of the agreement.

According to a UK-based watchdog, Yarmouk remains vulnerable as the Islamic State militants, together with al-Qaida affiliated group Nusa Front dominates almost 90 percent of the camp, leaving 26 militants dead.

The Observatory reported that seven civilians were murdered by the Islamic State militants and people from the camp were already suffering from hunger and illness due to lack of food and medicine.

Palestinian fighters Aknaf Beit al-Maqdis, who were opposing President Assad’s administration and at the same time supporting jihadist groups, were considered as terrorist militants by the Syrian government.

The group declined the reconciliation attempts of the government to lessen the suffering of the trapped civilians and to disarm the militants as well.

According to reports, al-Qaida's branch Nusra Front is the one who facilitated the access of Islamic State militants to the area.

The Yarmouk camp, considered as the "unofficial" refugee camp of the country, is a large district in the southern part of Damascus which is the home of the largest Palestinian community in Syria, with more than 170,000 residents.

In the past two years, people within the camp were trapped and were deprived of food and medicine as armed conflicts between the Syrian government and militants took place.

The United Nations officials described the situation on Monday as “beyond inhumane”, Time of Israel reported.
