(Photo : Reuters) Skype has rolled out new updates for its Skype for Web service.
The real-time video communication platform, which has been extremely popular due to its ability to break barriers and connect people, is out with a new version that will allow users to access it on any browser.
According to Skype Blog, the video communication platform, which has helped people across borders connect with each other, has launched a new version in which people will be able to access the Skype service through a regular web browser though the new version is still in its testing stage.

Skype has come a long way since its inception when it was available exclusively on computers. Today, the service is available on mobile screens, laptops and even gaming consoles. Thanks to the expansion across platforms, Skype has grown to over two billion minutes on a daily basis.
The introduction of Skype for web service is expected to further simplify matters giving users quick and easy access. To put it simply, the new service will make it possible for users to access the video communication portal from anywhere in the world just by logging into skype.com. This will make it possible for users to use skype even if the computer ,on which they are working, has not downloaded it as one of the apps in its system. Additionally, the reduced reliance on the app version will make the conversations happen faster. Another report on My Sinchew points out that the new facility is available in beta version only across regions in America and United Kingdom.
The new facility will also combine the conversations and contact display into a single timeline review. With its pop-up feature, the new version will notify users regarding conversation requests from their contacts; however, in order to use the Skype for web facility, users will need to install a software plug-in that will make the browser compatible with the application.
Skype is owned by Microsoft that purchased the video communication platform in 2011. As of now, only selected users have access to the facility but Skype has confirmed that they plan a worldwide roll-out in the near future.
