Chinese technology firm seems to be planning a Lenovo retro thinkpad, which will be a refurbished version of the predecessor cramped up with all the latest hardware and a swanky design.

After Lenovo, the China headquartered technology company that specializes in providing smartphones, laptops and several other such devices, took over IBM's Thinkpad business a lot has changed. From the design of the laptop to the features, Lenovo has made considerable changes in the way the devices look and work. But, the reports indicate that another major change could be underway.

In a company blogpost, Design Authority David Hill has given subtle hints that such a concept could actually be underway, sometime in the near future. Referring to the updated model as retro Thinkpad, Hill said that the new version will hold on to the old look and be loaded with new technology. This blend inspired the name retro, as confirmed by The Register.

Features of the Lenovo Thinkpad will include the traditional blue Enter key, seven row classic keyboard, 16:10 aspect ratio screen, the multi-color ThinkPad logo which has been a patent on all machines and will also include dedicated volume controls, rubberized paint, exposed screws, lots of status LED's as well as other interesting things. He also said that there are chances of improvement in the classic technology that exists. Even the ThinkLight, a popular feature of the ThinkPad, will be present in the device. This app casts a downward light allowing users to access the keyboard even in relatively poorer lighting conditions.

Through his blog post, Hill is inviting users to share their comments and opinion on the possibility of such an idea.

The ThinkPad was introduced in 1992 and was extremely popular in its time. This is because the device packed a series of interesting features like a 25Mhz 486 SLC, 640x480 resolution 10.4-inch VGA display and had a 120MB hard-drive with a weight that was barely a little above seven pounds, ZDNet reported.

By reviving the old ThinkPad design, Lenovo hopes to capitalize on the interest level of loyal users of the old model and not the regular laptop users.
