Hugh Jackman is best known in Hollywood as the one and only Canadian mutant, Wolverine. The Australian actor will be playing the X-Man for the last time in a solo movie in 2017 and is currently looking at another franchise to be involved in.

Could he be interested in playing the dashing debonair known as James Bond? He was once considered for the role back in 2002 to replace Pierce Brosnan but Jackman was still playing Wolverine at the time.

"I got a call from my agent saying, 'There's some possible interest in you for Bond, are you interested? At the time, I wasn't. I was about to shoot 'X-Men 2' and Wolverine had become this thing in my life. But I think every male at some point thinks about playing Bond. So it was not right then, but it may be right if it comes back."

It's now 13 years later since that time and the opportunity may be presenting itself to the actor once more.

In a recent interview with an Australian television show called "The Project," Jackman revealed his thoughts should he be asked to play Bond again, saying simply, "I'd seriously consider it."

At the moment, Daniel Craig is still James Bond who is set to reprise his role as James Bond in the latest 007 movie "Spectre." When the time comes for him to retire from this role, he could be replaced by the popular and readily available Hugh Jackman who will be out of his contract with Fox by 2017.

A cryptic message from the past sends James Bond on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually Rome, where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the beautiful and forbidden widow of an infamous criminal. Bond infiltrates a secret meeting and uncovers the existence of the sinister organisation known as SPECTRE. Meanwhile back in London, Max Denbigh (Andrew Scott), the new head of the Centre for National Security, questions Bond's actions and challenges the relevance of MI6, led by M (Ralph Fiennes). Bond covertly enlists Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw) to help him seek out Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux), the daughter of his old nemesis Mr White (Jesper Christensen), who may hold the clue to untangling the web of SPECTRE. As the daughter of an assassin, she understands Bond in a way most others cannot. As Bond ventures towards the heart of SPECTRE, he learns of a chilling connection between himself and the enemy he seeks, played by Christoph Waltz.
