Jessica Simpson said that her marriage to ex-husband Nicky Lachey was one of the "biggest money mistakes" of her life. The singer-turned-fashion-designer was speaking during an interview on "Closing Bell" CNBC on Thursday.

The former singer made an appearance on the program to celebrate the huge success of her clothing brand. "The biggest money mistakes? I don't know. For some reason I thought of my first marriage!" the blonde beauty said the about the financial mistake that helped her gown.

Her eponymous label is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Simpson is launching her activewear brand this fall, besides coming out with a fragrance soon. When she was questioned the reason behind her success, she mentioned that her business manager was one of the first persons she had met when she came to New York City, who was very trustworthy.

She also mentioned that together for the last 16 years they have made some great investments.

The 35-year-old said that she never holds back from taking a risk. She recounted how, when she started her label, it was only shoes and now it has grown into a huge empire, which is worth a million dollars.

The wife of former NFL player Eric Johnson said that most of the times she has no clue about her money, but she said that people whom she loves know all about her finances. When asked where she sees herself in the next five years, Simpson said that she is always "ready for another billion." Her clothing line Jessica Simpson Collection is worth $1 billion.

Earlier, Lachey said that it was probably the right thing for the former couple to have separated. He added that they had no contact and moved on with their lives. Lachey said that while there was no animosity, there was no friendship between them too. He gave an interview on the show "Dirty, Sexy, Funny with Jenny McCarthy" on SiriusXM in November. 

Meanwhile, Lachey, 41, has two children, Camden John, 2, and 8-month-old daughter Brooklyn Elisabeth, with wife Vanessa, while Simpson has two kids with Johnson Maxwell, 3, and Ace, 2.
