Dallas Cowboys' superstar wide receiver Dez Bryant is set to be out for four to six weeks after he broke a bone in his right foot during the third quarter of the team's thrilling 27-26 season-opening victory over the New York Giants on Sunday.

The Cowboys won the highly-entertaining contest against a division arch-rival, but it did not come without a pricey cost, losing Tony Romo's favorite receiving partner in Bryant for their next few games.

"That's a tough loss. You can't replace Dez Bryant," said Romo after the game, as reported by ESPN. "I hurt for him, right now, because I know how much he loves to play this game."

Romo added that without the former Oklahoma State standout, other guys would need "to step up" and even if "no one is going to be Dez Bryant" he vowed to take responsibility in getting their other wideouts more involved in the offense.

Cowboys chief Jerry Jones said that Bryant's injury would require surgery and they want to do it as soon as possible so that the 26-year-old could also come back soonest.

Head coach Jason Garrett disclosed that the surgery is scheduled on Tuesday and they are looking for the two-time Pro-Bowler to undergo rehab immediately and return in as early as four weeks, according to the league's official website.

"Dez Bryant's a great player," said the 49-year-old coach. "He's one of the best players we have and one of the best in the league and he makes a huge difference for us. Sometimes, those guys aren't available to you, so the next guy has to go in there and play, and everyone has to do their job."

SB Nation indicated that Bryant had caught 5-of-7 passes for 48 yards when he left the field in the third quarter. But the rest of the Cowboys played superbly, led by big plays from Romo, to snatch the game away from the visiting Giants.

Bryant was involved in a contract dispute with the Cowboys during the offseason after he refused to sign a one-year franchise tag worth $12.8 million. In the end, the Cowboys gave him what he wanted and agreed on a five-year, $70 million deal with $48 million in guaranteed money.

The longer contract gave Bryant more earning security in case of injuries than the short-term franchise tender.
