Apple may not eliminate the 3.5mm headphone jack in the upcoming iPhone 7 afterall.

The Apple iPhone 6S has not been out for several months yet, but there are already a lot of rumors about the iPhone 7. The most talked about iPhone 7 feature is that of a new headphone jack. Apple is said to planning to do away with the 3.5 mm headphone jack in its upcoming iPhones to allow for a thinner body. While the company is likely to do that, there are many reasons why it won't.

This move could be a very risky decision for Apple especially since it needs to increase iPhone sales in the next fiscal year. Apple is attempting to create a compelling and innovative iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and make it superior in ways which matter to customers.

There is also the Beats products. Apple recently bought headphone manufacturer Beats. While it offers some wireless headphones, most of its products require a 3.5 mm jack. There is still no Beats headphones that connect to Apple devices through the Lightning port. If Apple would kill off the 3.5 mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7, Beats should have offered headphones that can connect through the Lightning port by now. To come up with a thinner device, Apple does not really need to kill off the 3.5 mm headphone jack. The 5th Gen iPod was only 6.1 mm thick and it still has the 3.5 mm headphone jack.

The Apple iPhone 7 is said to have a greater number of ppi for a higher resolution. To deliver a significantly improved pixel density, Apple might include a 2208 x 1242 on the iPhone 7 and a 2560 x 1440 display on the iPhone 7 Plus. This time, while Apple won't upgrade the A10 processor, the larger body might be able to accommodate increased thermal headroom for it. This could offer a faster processor and an additional memory. There are also talks about additional software benefits for the bigger screen device.
