Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has said that Muslims will always be welcome on the social networking website. Zuckerberg's comments came in just days following Republican presidential aspirant Donald Trump's statement regarding Muslims.

Zuckerberg shared his thoughts on a Facebook post that reads, "After the Paris attacks and hate this week, I can only imagine the fear Muslims feel that they will be persecuted for the actions of others."

The 31-year-old Facebook CEO added, "If you're a Muslim in this community, as the leader of Facebook I want you to know that you are always welcome here and that we will fight to protect your rights and create a peaceful and safe environment for you."

Zuckerberg said as a Jew his parents taught him to "stand up against attacks on all communities." He also made a remark about freedom. The post on Facebook was well received by users and has garnered more than a million Likes.

Trump said during his campaign trail that if he is elected to be president, he will put a ban on Muslim people entering the United States.

Many political analysts say Trump's remark as a heavy blow towards Muslim people. Trump has been widely criticized for his statement which he gave following the mass shooting incident in San Bernardino, California.

Trump's comments have stirred several activist groups to condemn him for his statement. Prominent groups like the Anti-Defamation League has already denounced Trump for his comments. The United State Holocaust Museum also released a statement in defense of Syrian refugees.

It appears that Islamophobia politics is slowly turning be a horrible turpitude of the past. Evidence to this is the growing support for Muslim people all over social networking sites. Even in non-Muslim minority groups, support for Muslim people, especially with the current political situation in Syria, has been steadily growing, according to Vox.
