The Pixel C tablet is Google's flagship tablet. However, when the device was released, many tech critics were not happy about its lack of basic productivity features which are already present on some of its rivals. According to Venture Beat, the Pixel C tablet goes head to head with the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and the iPad Pro. The last two devices both supported split-screen functionality when they were released. On the other hand, tech experts were bewildered as to why Google would miss this feature on its flagship tablet in the first place.

A recent Reddit Ask Me Anything session by Google director for consumer hardware Andre Bowers revealed that the team is working on an update that will add split-screen support for the Pixel C tablet. Bowers responded to a question asked about what features the team could have missed on the Pixel C by posting, "Split screen is in the works."

The split-screen feature appeared on the developer preview of Android Marshmallow. However, when the operating system was released, the split-screen feature was not part of it.

Aside from the split-screen functionality, Google is also working to make the "OK Google" feature as an always-on functionality for the Pixel C. The feature is present on devices like the Nexus 9 and tech analysts are wondering why it did not find its way into the Pixel C tablet.

Lastly, the team behind Pixel C announced that they are also working to allow the tablet to support DisplayPort in the future. DisplayPort is a technology that allows devices like the Pixel C to connect to other display devices. The feature is already available on the Google Chromebook Pixel.
