Chinese smartphone maker Oppo Electronics is preparing to launch its latest camera-centric Oppo F1 smartphone in Australia on Feb. 8. The Oppo F1 will be available for purchase via the company's official website, with a price tag of AU$299.

In terms of the design, the Oppo F1 features a premium metallic body, according to Oppo, and two silver chamfered rounded edges. The device weighs about 134 grams and measures 143.5 x 71 x 7.3 mm in dimensions.

Specs-wise, the Oppo F1 features a 5.0-inch IPS LCD display screen with a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. The screen is scratch resistant and is protected by the Gorilla Glass 4.

The handset runs on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system with the ColorOS 2.1, which gives a smooth and steady performance.

As for the camera, the F1 sports a 13 megapixel rear-facing unit and an 8 megapixel snapper on the front, with f/2.0 lens and a 1/4 inch sensor.

Inside, the phone packs Qualcomm's MSM8939 Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in memory storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card), and a non-removable 2,500 mAh battery. The Oppo F1 will be available in white and gold colors only.

Back in August 2015, Oppo signed a deal with the second largest telecommunications firm in Australia, Optus, to make the high-end Oppo R7 smartphone available in the Australian market. Before that, the Chinese company entered the U.S. and Europe in December 2013. The European markets included the U.K, France, and Germany, among others.

Back in its homeland, Oppo is competing against the current top smartphone maker Xiaomi Inc., including Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and Vivo Electronics Corp.
