CBA Recap: Xinjiang Flying Tigers Eliminate Beijing Ducks, Set for Semifinals Showdown With Guangdong Southern Tigers

Series leader Xinjiang Flying Tigers dethroned the defending champion Beijing Ducks in the fourth game of their best-of-five quarterfinal series with a 103-94 victory to advance to the semifinal round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league playoff on Sunday evening.
Gilas Pilipinas hotshot Andray Blatche fired a remarkable team-high 26 points with 7 rebounds to go along with 2 assists. He got much needed help from the Chinese forward Li Gen, who scored 18 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 1 assists for the Flying Tigers.

Xinjiang will be meeting Jianlian Yi-led Guangdong Southern Tigers, who swept the Shandong Golden Stars, in the semifinal round of the competition.
Chinese guard Xiralijan finished the night with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists, while American Bryce Cotton dropped 18 points and 2 assists for the winners.
Xinjiang's top center Zhou Qi scored only 9 points in the game but contributed much in the rebounding end by grabbing 16 boards. Team captain Liu Wei also added 9 points for the victors.
Former NBA All-Star Stephon Marbury led the Ducks with a team-high 29 points, while Randolph Morris contributed 26 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists for the Ducks.
Beijing's captain Sun Yue and forward Zhai Xiaochuan finished the quarterfinal showdown with 11 points and 10 points respectively.
Xinjiang began the opening quarter with a strong start, posting a 31-20 run to end the first quarter with an eleven-point advantage. Beijing refused to be down with a big lead, but the Tigers were able to control the second period to close the first half with a 13-point lead, 59-46.
In the third quarter, the Ducks got the momentum and fired a 30-18 charge to cut the deficit with just a single point 77-76 going in to the final quarter of the game.
In the final twelve minutes of the game, Beijing came short, while Xinjiang managed to take the finishing run. The Tigers controlled the Ducks within 18-point production, while they scored 26 points in the fourth period of the game.
