Xiaomi's Mi 5 Pro Variant to go on Sale in China on April 6

Xiaomi Mi 5 Smartphone Sold Out Quickly Following 16.8 Million Reservations

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Inc. is planning to launch the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro Edition smartphone in the Chinese market on Apr. 6. The new handset comes with a "3D ceramic back cover" and is expected to cost around US$413. It is a variant of the original Xiaomi Mi 5 which went on sale in China earlier this month.

Specs-wise, the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro comes with the same hardware configuration as the original model, except for the rear cover, internal memory storage and RAM. While the original model has a "3D glass back cover", 3GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of built-in memory under its hood, the Pro variant has 4GB of RAM and a whopping 128GB of storage.

Additionally, the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro is powered by Qualcomm's powerful Snapdragon 820 processor and a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charge 3.0. The device features a 5.15-inch IPS LCD display screen with a 1,080 x 1,920 pixel resolution, and comes with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out of the box.

Other specs include a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera, a 4 megapixel front-facing shooter, a fingerprint sensor, GPS support, USB Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and NFC connectivity.

In the meantime, other Chinese manufacturers such as Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and Meizu Technology Co., Ltd. are also preparing to release the Huawei P9 and the Meizu m3 Note respectively on Apr. 6. The following day, OnePlus could unveil its latest OnePlus 3 smartphone at an event that will take place in Beijing, according to GSM Arena.
