Users of the Gionee Elife S5.1 smartphone in India have received an Android operating system (OS) update. Users can now update the old version of the phone's OS to Android 5.0.16 Lollipop.

This is the first OS update that Gionee has released for the device, which is almost two years old. This might be too late, but it tells us that the Chinese company is still focused on its users. Take note that this update is only applicable to Indian users.

The Gionee Elife S5.1 smartphone was once recognized as the world's slimmest smartphone.

Gionee is yet to release an official statement regarding this update. However, many local blogs have confirmed that it is available. If you are interested in this update, what you need to know is that the size of the file is 850.18MB.

These update is packed with several fixes of bugs in the operating system. The update includes update for Android L with Amigo UI 3.1, an added ThemePark with Online themes feature and 3D Clock feature, an added Amilocker feature, an added Chameleon feature, updated system manager with power saving mode, Extreme mode and Smart Cleaner, an added face unlock feature, an added AmiClone feature, updated Ami Calendar with new design, and an added Mobile Security application.

The update also has an additional Video playlist & video resume feature, Password Protection feature, Google Hindi IME input method, updated launcher and added launcher guide feature, MMS security patch, a new version of User Feedback application, GameZone has been replaced with Gstore, and Amigo paper has been replaced with Mood card.
