Kristen Bell would reprise her role as the voice of Princess Anna in the upcoming animated musical film 'Frozen 2.' The actress confirmed that production of the sequel will begin soon. A new female villain may also be introduced to the movie. 

Bell revealed that production for the long-awaited sequel to the Disney animated musical film of the same name has finally commenced. She said that the script is ready for cast members to begin recording their respective characters.

"What I know about that whole team is that they wouldn't just put something out to put it out... That's why it took them so long to even announce that we were doing a second one... It took them a while because they wanted to figure out what story they needed to tell and what would be important and engaging and I think they found it," she said.

The original 2013 'Frozen' film grossed $1.2 billion at the box office and went on to receive several accolades and nominations including two Academy Awards wins for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song as well as a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film and a BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film. It also spawned a short animated sequel entitled 'Frozen Fever,' which premiered together with Disney's 'Cinderella' live-action adaptation.

Bell revealed that she has not recorded songs with critically-acclaimed songwriting team Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez just yet.

"We record all the time for different parks or different parks that open overseas, we'll do a mashup for the rides. So we actually get to go in - Josh [Gad] and Idina [Menzel], Jonathan [Groff] and I - all the time and record new bits of the music. When Epcot center opens we'll record a bunch of new music. So we have little bits of Frozen in our life at all times, but I'm excited to get started on the new movie," she explained.

Meanwhile, there are reports that in 'Frozen 2' a new female villain will be introduced into the series. It was previously speculated that Princess Anna will be battling her own sister Queen Elsa since she possesses the power of fire, but this is yet to be confirmed.

'Frozen 2' will be directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and is currently in pre-production.
