Rebel Wilson has addressed rumors that she will portray Adele in an alleged biopic saying that she has never been offered the role. The actress and comedienne revealed that it was only a made up tabloid story.

According to The Guardian, Wilson denied any involvement in the alleged Adele biopic. She was said to have been cast to play the English singer-songwriter on the big screen.

"I have never been offered to play Adele in a biopic...completely made up tabloid story with fictitious unnamed source! Love Adele though X," Wilson wrote on Twitter.

Her response came after Adele expressed her shock and annoyance over the rumored casting.

According to Express, the singer went on an expletive-filled rant on-stage at the London 02 Arena saying, "I've heard there are rumours about Rebel Wilson will be playing me in a movie - let's see if that turns out to be true... They need my f****** permission... Just because I'm plus-sized doesn't mean she's playing me."

According to Metro, the rumors began when The Daily Star ran a story about a planned biopic claiming that the 'Pitch Perfect' star was in the running to play Adele in the film. A source, only identified as a friend, claimed that the film would be Wilson's chance to prove herself as a serious actress.

"This is going to be a huge challenge for her because Adele is a legend at the peak of her popularity... Rebel can't match Adele's vocal talents but she can certainly sing. And, with a little technical wizardry, she'll sound just like her in the movie. She is desperately hoping to get Adele's blessing," the source reportedly said.

Wilson is known to hold a tune or two as well. She rose to international fame for her role as Fat Amy in the musical comedy film 'Pitch Perfect', released in 2013. Her performance earned her several accolades including a Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Actress: Comedy and an MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance.
