Paramount Pictures recently dropped trailer number two for the upcoming installment in the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' cinematic franchise.
The new trailer opened to a lively street party scene followed by the emergence of the four titular characters Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo and Donatello from their underground hideout. An action-packed montage of explosions, invasions, new villains and returning protagonists set to the Beastie Boys' 'No Sleep Till Brooklyn' ensued.
Megan Fox and Will Arnett return as April O'Neil and Vern Fernwick, respectively. Stephen Amell joins in to portray the hockey mask-wearing vigilante Casey Jones. Tyler Perry, Brittany Ishibashi, William Fichtner, Brian Tee and Laura Linney round up the new cast of characters as well.
The sequel will follow the titular mutant turtles as they team up to defeat their arch nemesis Shredder after he manages to escape from custody. Shredder finds allies in the mad scientist Baxter Stockman, Bebop and Rocksteady as he attempts to take over the world. The iconic supervillain Krang is also set to make his on-screen debut.
It seems that the turtles will also face an existential crisis in the new film after discovering that the mysterious purple ooze could transform them into humans. Based on the new trailer, the turtles are polarized with the decision to leave their mutant existence and this threatens to break up their team.
Dave Green returns to the franchise as director while Michael Bay returns as producer.
'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows' is an upcoming science-fiction action film based on the fictional anthropomorphic characters of the same name. It is scheduled to be released in theaters on 3D and IMAX 3D format on June 3, 2016.
