The book has approximately 400 pages and was written in English. It embodies Lee Kuan Yew's viewpoint on world powers and international trends, among which, there are six chapters that involves China, the United States, Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, etc.

In the chapter talking about China, Lee Kuan Yew says the Chinese nation has risen up, but China still insists on a highly centralized system of government. He points out: "China's internal challenges are at a critical moment, a sudden external event will affect the country tremendously." But he still expresses his confidence that Chinese president Xi Jinping will handle those challenges calmly.

His descriptionas of Chinese president Xi Jinping in the book are as follows:

"Consider further the trials and tribulations that he has been through, having been rusticated as a young man, sent to Sha'anxi province in 1969, but working his way slowly back up, never complaining, never grumbling. I would put him in the Nelson Mandela class of persons".

When writing about the American former President George W. Bush, Lee Kuan Yew said: "When you are fighting a fanatic on the other side who believes he represents God, it does help to give you a serenity and a tranquility of mind to believe you also have God on your side. When Bush Junior announced that he had ordered an attack on Baghdad, I never saw a man more composed. He spoke briefly into the microphone and walked away, straight-backed, not a doubt in his mind. I thought to myself: 'That's not a bad commander'."

Besides, 89-year-old Lee Kuan Yew talks about his opinion on death for the first time in the book. "I would like to die quickly rather than being bedridden for a long time." He said.
