During Apple Music's debut about a year ago, Spotify claimed to have around 20 million paying subscribers and around 75 million active users.

In a statement, Apple chief financial officer Luca Maestri said, "It's interesting for us that our Music business, which had been declining for a number of quarters, now that we have both a download model and a streaming model, we have now hit an infection point."

Since its launch, Apple Music has been aggressively promoting its services. The music service released exclusive contents from top-rated artists like Taylor Swift and Drake. Upon its release, Apple Music also featured constant dynamic content via its free Beats 1 radio service.

Apple is planning to further broaden the services covered by Apple Music. The tech giant is planning to debut an Apple Music television show which stars Dr. Dre.

In terms of pricing, Apple Music costs $9.99 per month for individual users and $14.99 per month for a family plan that covers up to six users. Payment can be made the user's iTunes account. Some tech analysts have attributed Apple Music's success to the fact that it is connected to users' iTunes accounts. Experts pointed out that a lot of of credit card information is already attached to an iTunes account, and this makes it easy for customers to subscribe to Apple services and purchase Apple's contents.
