The budding movie star managed to snag the coveted role after more than 2,500 hopefuls auditioned for the role. According to Collider, Ehrenreich trumped fellow actors Jack Raynor of 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' and Taron Egerton of 'Kingsman: The Secret Service.'
Ehrenreich starred as Hobie Doyle in the Coen Brothers' comedy film 'Hail! Caesar' together with Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson. The film followed the real-life story of Hollywood fixer Eddie Manx, portrayed by Brolin, who worked in the film industry in the 1950s.
The 26-year old actor made his feature-film debut in Francis Ford Coppola's 'Tetro' in 2009 and also appeared on the acclaimed director's subsequent film 'Twixt' in 2011. He went on to work in films such as 'Blue Jasmine' by Woody Allen, 'Stoker' by Park Chan-wook and 'Beautiful Creatures' by Richard LaGravenese.
'Han Solo' is a yet untitled addition in the planned 'Star Wars' anthology of films. It will center on a young Han Solo as he becomes the smuggler first introduced in 'Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.' The movie will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 25, 2018.
