The unit body platform of the 2017 Honda Ridgeline is loosely derived from the Honda Accord sedan. Some car analysts have even said that it looks closely related to the Honda Pilot crossover SUV.

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline is available in both front wheel and all-wheel drive options. Honda made the subtle yet stylish design overhaul; making the new Ridgeline look more like a robust pickup truck and improving from the last model's somewhat clumsy façade. The pickup box now looks more like a regular pickup with a detached box.

One of Honda's primary objective in redesigning the new Ridgeline was to integrate newer technologies into the pickup truck. The 2017 Ridgeline is equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of tools which includes lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and road departure mitigation.

Just like other Honda vehicles, the cross traffic alert and blink spot warning are only available to the Ridgeline's premium models.

The only engine options available for the 2017 Honda Ridgeline is the upgraded version of the 3.5-liter V6 engine with direct injection, variable-valve timing and cylinder deactivation. These features help boost the truck power to as much as 280 horsepower and its torque to 252 lb-ft. The new six-speed automatic will replace the five-speed unit installed in the last model.

With its new powertrain and weight reduction, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline has a slightly improved EPA fuel economy rating compared to its predecessor. For the all-wheel drive model, it is rated at 18mpg in the city, 25mpg on the highway, and a combined 21mpg rating, according to Auto Week.

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline will have a starting price of $29, 475. The more premium Ridgeline Black Edition costs $42, 870.
