There are reports that Darren Hass has left Apple to work for General Electric. Hass was one of the last remaining members of the team that helped develop Siri, Apple's intelligent personal assistant.

Hass had been working on Siri before it was purchased by Apple in 2010. Since then, Hass remained at Apple and worked on the tech giant's cloud engineering services. The departure of Hass follows the recent departure of Steve D'Aurora.

Hass' departure has also fueled the rumors about tension between the iCloud team and Siri engineers.

Now that Hass and D'Aurora are under the same roof again at GE, there are speculations the two will be working on a similar cloud platform. The two engineers are yet to issue an official confirmation about the recent changes, so these rumors have to be taken with a grain of salt.

Hass is well known in the cloud software circles as he was one of the first engineers to integrate Hadoop and Mesos on Siri. These integrations helped Apple embrace open-source software. Hass is also known for co-founding the petition website, Change.org.

Earlier this week, several members of the original Siri Team, including co-founders Adam Cheyer and Dag Kittlaus, debuted Viv which is a next-generation bot powered by high-end Artificial Intelligence. Viv can carry out complex tasks by mimicking the "spontaneity and knowledge base" of a human assistant.

During a presentation at TechCrunch Disrupt, Viv appeared to be far more advanced compared to Siri. Viv has improved contextual awareness and can quickly craft complex responses to complicated questions. The team behind Viv plans to integrate the digital assistant into a wide range of products on the Internet of Things platform, including cars and smart home devices.
