The Nintendo 2DS is getting yet another price cut effective on May 20. The price cut comes less than a year after the Japanese company slashed its price to $100, down from the original $130 price tag. Nintendo announced that the Nintendo 2DS will only cost $80 now.

Tech analysts suggest that the extremely low price tag of the Nintendo 2DS will make it appealing to impulse buyers, as long as they are willing to trade the 3D effects which is not supported by the handheld console. According to Engadget, the $80 Nintendo 2DS comes with a digital copy of "Mario Kart 7," which normally costs $20.

In order to make the price cut more appealing to budget-minded gamers, Nintendo has announced the official release date of 'Pokémon Sun' and 'Pokémon Moon.' Although these games will not be released until November, analysts are positive that it should add more appeal to gamers who are looking to purchase the Nintendo 2DS.

Aside from the two Pokemon games slated to be released later this year, there are plenty of interesting titles that are coming out which should help persuade gamers to buy the extremely affordable 2DS. Within the next few weeks, 'Kirby: Planet Robobot' will be released as well as the highly-anticipated 'Mighty No. 9.'

Nintendo has announced two new games that are aimed at the younger generation of gamers. These are 'Disney Magical World 2' and 'Style Savvy: Fashion Forward.'

According to CNet, the Nintendo 2DS is considered part of the 3DS line of devices. Nintendo revealed that the 3DS had sold at least 58 million units as of March 31. On the other hand, the same cannot be said for the 2DS, since Nintendo has yet to release the official sales figure of the console.
