New reports are claiming that "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 is no longer happening. It has been previously announced that the second installment of the popular 16-episode KBS2 popular series will be happening very soon, which will still star Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo.

KBS drama department head Jung Sung Ho revealed that the high possibility that the "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 is coming. He said this is how KBS would repay the support of the avid "Descendants of the Sun" viewers for its first season.

"KBS will strive to produce a second 'Descendants of the Sun' to meet expectations and repay viewers," Jung said in an interview. "We plan to launch a 2016 'Descendants of the Sun' project for broadcast in 2017 through negotiations with the cast and production team."

However, recent reports are claiming that the upcoming "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 is facing a lot of quandaries in terms of casting and scheduling. Several fans then speculated that the "Descendants of the Sun" sequel is never going to happen.

"Descendants of the Sun" lead stars Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo have received a lot of praises from fans around the globe for their exemplary appearance in the Korean series. Yet, their hectic schedules are making it difficult for them to reprise the role in the "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2.

Kim Won Suk, writer of the "Descendants of the Sun," has also divulged that he is not interested to write the script for "DOTS" Season 2. Moreover, it has been reported that the Korea Tourism Ministry has also rejected the request of the Taebaek City mayor to release a special budget to restore the set of the popular Korean series to promote tourism in the area.

Many fans, however, remained hopeful that the "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 is going to be filmed soon. There were also reports saying that "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 will focus more on the love story of Seo Dae Yeong and Yoon Myeong Ju.
