The new iPhone 6 will be announced on Sept. 9 but amidst all the rumors, Apple has never confirmed any specs and features of the upcoming next-gen Apple flagship smartphone. The company's silence did not stop the rumor mill, some even claiming to have confirmed details about the device.

Apple released its invitation to the media for its iPhone 6 press event. The invite only revealed the date 9.9.2014 and a teaser that said "Wish we could say more." The event will be held at the De Anza College campus in Cupertino at 10:00 A.M. Pacific Time.

Apple fans anticipate the debut of two iPhone 6 variants running on the iOS 8 including the alleged Apple iWatch.

While the dates are different, Apple is known to pick one Tuesday in September to launch its next-gen iPhone known to the world. However, next week's event is only a preview and customers still have to wait for a couple of days more before they can get their hands on the next iPhone.

The devices need an operating system and for 2014, it is the iOS 8 which has been announced in June at the WWDC 2014 and followed through several beta versions of the software. The final iOS 8 beta version has been issued for the official build.

Based on this, Business Insider believed that Wed., Sept. 17 will be the day that the mobile operating system will be available to iPhone users in line with the company's previous timelines.
