Supergirl has finally found its Superman, and it's no other than Teen Wolf grad Tyler Hoechlin.

"Could not be more honored & humbled to be given the opportunity to play this incredible & beloved character," Hoechlin told his Twitter followers on Thursday.

"Can't wait to get to work!"

Hoechlin's casting comes after the producer's announcement that Kara will finally meet her cousin, Clark Kent/Superman, on Supergirl in the first two episodes of season two.

Details about Superman's storyline are being kept under wraps, but we know that he will set foot in National City to visit Kara.

"Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman," said Andrew Kreisberg, executive producer of Supergirl in a statement.

"We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character."

Hoechlin follows a list of actors who have portrayed the last son of Krypton on television over the years. Those actors include George Reeves, John Haynes Newton, Gerard Christopher, Dean Cain, and Tom Welling.

Known for playing Derek Hale on MTV's Teen Wolf, the actor also recently appeared in the film Everybody Wants Some!!, and his other film and TV credits include Fifty Shades of Grey, Hall Pass, 7th Heaven. Road to Perdition, and Solstice.

Supergirl, starring Melissa Benoist, debuted last fall on CBS and gained a strong following from the get-go. However, its second season has been bumped to air on the CW due to a decline in ratings.

Supergirl season 2 will air every Monday at 8 p.m. this fall on CBS.
