China Mobile Reports 430 Million 4G Subscribers

(Photo : Reuters) China Mobile's 4G mobile subscribers continued to increase in the month of June.

China Mobile has revealed that its 4G mobile subscribers grew by more than 19 million in the month of June. The company currently has a total of more than 429 million subscribers, a figure that is larger than the population of the United States.

China Mobile also revealed that it is ahead of its two main competitors in the Chinese telecommunications market, China Telecom, and China Unicom. China Mobile said that the growth rate it experienced in the month of June is it's second best performance in the first half of the year, closely following its January growth rate.

According to China Tech News, China Mobile's total number of users is currently pegged at 837 million, which represents an average monthly increase of 1.8 million users. Despite the current growth enjoyed by the company in terms of 4G users, it reported that its 3G users deteriorated with a reported decrease of 6 million users down to 132 million.

China Mobile reported that its broadband users topped at 65 million by the end of June. The company added that during the first half of the year, it gained more than 10 million new broadband subscribers which represent an average monthly increase of about 1.8 million users.

Based on the latest reports from local Chinese media outlets, by the end of June, China Telecom had more than 90 million 4G users, while China Unicom had more than 72 million 4G users.

According to DigiTimes, in a bid to sustain its positive growth rate, China Mobile deployed around 1.4 million 4G base stations around China, which aims to cover around 97 percent of the country's population.
