Xiaomi Unveils Mi Notebook Air, to be Released in August

Xiaomi has unveiled its first notebook dubbed as the Mi Notebook Air. The Mi Notebook Air would compete against the Apple Air series, but it has a completely different price.

There are two versions of the Mi Notebook Air versions: the 12.5-inch and the 13.3-inch full HD displays.

The notebooks are powered by Intel's Core M and Core i5 microprocessors and run on Microsoft Windows 10 Home. The 13.3-inch variant has a 2.3 GHz (Turbo up to 2.7 GHz) Intel Core i5-6200U, NVIDIA Geforce 940MX, 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, 802.11 AC WiFi and 256 GB PCIe SSD with a factory expandable SATA SSD slot. According to Anandtech, it measures 12.18" × 8.3" × 0.58" and weighs 1.2 kg with a 9.5-hour battery life.

Meanwhile, the 12.5-inch version comes with an Intel Core M3 with integrated graphics, 1128 GB SSD, 4 GB of RAM and 802.11 AC WiFi. It measures 11.5" × 7.95" × 0.51" and weighs 1.07 kg with an 11.5-hour battery life. Both the 13.3-inch and 12.5-inch variants feature two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, a USB Type-C port for charging, an HDMI port and headphone jack. The device starts at 3,499 CNY ($526). The Mi Notebook Air was made by Xiaomi's partner, Tian Mi. It will hit the shelves in China on August 2.

The notebook comes in all-metal silver and gold cases with a backlit keyboard. The Mi Notebook Air comes with a Mi Sync software which will pull some phone data and can be paired with a MI Band fitness wearable that unlocks when a user is near, similar to the Apple Watch.
