Chinese Actress Zhu Zhu to Star Alongside Salman Khan in Bollywood Film 'Tubelight'

Chinese star Zhu Zhu has been confirmed as the leading lady alongside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan in the Hindi-language film "Tubelight."

The film, directed by Indian filmmaker Kabir Khan, is currently being shot in the region of Ladakh, where Zhu recently joined the film's cast and crew.

Considering that "Tubelight" is set in the backdrop of the 1962 Indo-China war, it is understandable why the casting director decided to go with someone of Chinese origin.

The story of the film revolves around an Indian man with special needs (played by Salman) and a Chinese woman (Zhu Zhu) who fall in love with each other, according to The Indian Express.

Zhu is an actress and singer who shot to fame as a VJ on MTV China. The 32-year-old starlet's other film credits include the Chinese remake of "What Women Want," and Hollywood films like "Shanghai Calling," "Cloud Atlas" and "The Man with the Iron Fists" with Russell Crowe. Zhu also featured on the Netflix drama series, "Marco Polo," according to Bollywood Life.

Zhu Zhu expressed her excitement over working with Bollywood sensation Salman Khan on social media. "On top of the palace with Mr #Salmankhan @ Leh Ladakh," she wrote, before sharing a series of pictures from the set on her Instagram account.

She also took to social media a few days ago to reveal that she was learning Hindi for her role.

The Chinese actress' Bollywood connection is that she's repped by CAA - the same talent agency that manages "Quantico" actress Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, who will be starring alongside Vin Diesel in the upcoming "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage."
