Huawei has reportedly been developing its quick charging technology since last year. The company's battery division revealed a prototype that can charge a typical 3000mAh battery pack in just five minutes. According to GSM Area, this new fast charging technology was unveiled by Huawei at the 56th Battery Symposium in Japan.

Huawei released a video demonstrating the new technology and how it works. Huawei conducted a considerable amount of research to ensure that its fast charging technology will not damage a device's battery pack or lessen its lifespan.

Huawei filed the trademark application in Europe and contained a list which the company calls "goods and services." On the list, Huawei mentioned a handful of its smartphones and smartwatches, along with their batteries and chargers.

Aside from Huawei, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo is also working on a new fast charging technology called Super VOOC. According to Digital Trends, Super VOOC can charge a battery from zero to 100 percent in just 15 minutes. The technology is expected to be added to Oppo phones before the end of the year.
