When Microsoft announced that it is finally shutting down its Nokia division, many people in the tech industry took this as a sign that the company is foregoing all of its hopes of securing a foothold in the mobile industry. However, some analysts believe that the company is up for a rebound and has not yet completely abandoned its efforts.

There were several speculations last year that the Microsoft Surface Phone may be out in 2016 and, according to speculations, the Surface Phone will be a direct competitor to the Apple iPhone 7, based on specs.

When it comes to the smartphone market, it is safe to say that Microsoft has its fair share of misses. The tech giant has plans of releasing a brand of affordable devices on emerging markets like India, but this was overshadowed by Google when it released its Android One brand.
