(Photo : Reuters) Microsoft's foray into the mobile platform may be far from over despite the company's decision to shut down Lumia.
When Microsoft announced that it is finally shutting down its Nokia division, many people in the tech industry took this as a sign that the company is foregoing all of its hopes of securing a foothold in the mobile industry. However, some analysts believe that the company is up for a rebound and has not yet completely abandoned its efforts.

Microsoft's mobile platform, the Windows Phone, was closed because it is not so popular. The platform was eventually replaced by Windows 10 Mobile as part of Microsoft's effort to unify all of the platforms that it is supporting. Many tech analysts are convinced that Windows 10 Mobile will be Microsoft's ace to get back on the mobile platform.
This is a big speculation, but it is unclear what lies ahead for the Windows 10 Mobile platform since Microsoft has not been very vocal about its current status.
According to WinBeta, Microsoft is not a hardware company, except of course for the company's successful Xbox console and the virtual reality headset HoloLens. Aside from the two mentioned hardware, Microsoft has not released any major hardware for several decades.
Microsoft's strength is in software development. The company has produced revolutionary operating systems like MS-DOS and Windows.
What many tech analysts are expecting is for Microsoft to develop a popular mobile platform and then partner with experienced hardware manufacturers to create devices that will run the software.
Right now, the eyes of the tech community are on the Microsoft Surface Phone. Not much is known about the smartphone, but many believe that it will play a crucial part in either the success or eventual disintegration of Microsoft's mobile dreams.
According to Inquisitr, the Microsoft Surface Phone will be released sometime in 2017.
