Rumors about AMD Radeon RX 490 high-end graphics processing unit have been floating in the tech community for quite some time already. Until recently, not much information can be scraped regarding this graphics card. Earlier this month, a leaked “Ashes of the Singularity” benchmark slide surfaced and many believed it to be that of the RX 490.

The battle for dominance of the entry-level graphics card market is heating up with the recent announcement of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050, and the GTX 1050 Ti. The two graphics card are based on the latest Pascal architecture and are expected to take AMD’s flagship cards in the same segment. As a response to this new graphics cards, AMD recently announced that it is dropping the price of the Radeon 460 and the Radeon 470 in order to better compete with Nvidia’s products.

AMD is aggressively marketing its newest graphics cards using the new Polaris architecture to close the gap with some of its biggest competitors. AMD unveiled the Radeon RX 480 at Computex, and the company announced that it will hit the market on June 29.

This weekend, tech company AMD will be holding its Polaris Tech Day, an event for the press and analysts. The event will take place in Macau and will probably kickoff AMD’s Computex conference which is scheduled to begin next week.
