Asus Zenfone 5 vs. Moto G 2014: Zenfone 5 Just as Good Based on Specs Comparison

Here are some points where the Asus Zenfone 5 is a better alternative than the Moto G 2014 under the mid-range smartphone category. The basis of comparison is the listed specs of the devices.

First, the Moto G is sold for Rs 12,500 (US$205) or more while the Asus Zenfone 5 costs only Rs 9,999 (US$164). The Zenfone 5 sports a 5-inch IPS display with a 1280 x 720 pixels resolution.

On the other hand, the Moto G only has a 4.5-inch IPS display with a similar resolution. Both smartphones support 294 ppi pixel density but the Zenfone 5 also offers a dedicated reading mode.

Both the Zenfone 5 and the Moto G feature an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and autofocus features. The Moto G camera supports 720p HD video capture while the Zenfone 5 camera sensor supports full HD 1080p video capture. Both handsets have 2 megapixel front cameras.

Moto G 2014 runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat and may receive the upcoming Android L upgrade while the Asus Zenfone 5 only runs Android 4.3 JellyBean. Both Android OS have proprietary UI from their respective manufacturers.

Both the Motorola Moto G 2014 and Zenfone 5 have 8 GB or 16 GB of in-built storage options but only the Zenfone supports expandable storage. The Zenfone 5 offers two CPU variants: the Intel Atom Z2580 for the 16 GB model with 2 GB of RAM and the Atom Z2560 for the 8 GB model with 1 GB of RAM.

Meanwhile, the Moto G 2014 features a Snapdragon 400 chipset with 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and Andreno 305 graphics.

The Moto G 2014 has a non-removable 2070 mAh battery while the Zenfone 5 has a non-removable 2110 mAh battery.
