Veteran shooting guard Ray Allen has reportedly told several Cleveland Cavaliers players that he will join their training camp probably this coming weekend or early next week, according to a source close to situation.
Sacramento Sports radio show host Tyler Spence said a source told him the 39-year old Allen is set to meet Cavs head coach David Blatt to formally join the team's training camp for the upcoming 2014-15 NBA season.

"Source: Ray Allen is planning on meeting with David Blatt this week or early next week. Has already informed players he's signing with Cavs," Spence posted on his Twitter account.
Allen, who still averaged 9.2 points and shot 37 percent from beyond the arc last year, has been drawing a lot of interest from several NBA teams, including contenders such as the Chicago Bulls, Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs - the team that formally ended the era of LeBron James-Dwyane Wade-Chris Bosh triumvirate last season.
The future Hall of Famer was previously non-committal to play for another season, knowing the strenuous task of keeping his ageing body healthy throughout the 82-game season campaign. He even considered retirement as a possible option, but the hunger of winning another championship after already bagging two rings in his career might have changed his mind.
Acquiring Allen would give the Cavaliers another player who can play under pressure and become a leader for this talented but still inexperienced ballclub. He's expected to play 10 to 15 minutes per game, providing the Cavaliers some firepower off the bench and a player that can knock down big jumpers down the stretch in close games.
The return of James to Cleveland is seen as the big factor to Allen's decision to prolong his surefire Hall of Fame career for one more year. James and Allen have developed a close relationship inside the Heat locker room during the veteran's two-year stay in Miami.
