"We are pleased to participate in this project with the city of Guadalajara, offering our experience designing smart cities and helping them to become the first creative cluster in the region working under this concept." said Jordi Botifoll, Cisco's president of Latin America.
Cisco and CCD agreed to work with the city of Guadalajara to establish a pilot project that involves the city's telecommunications infrastructure and urban services.
"Technology plays a significant role in urban transformation, reinforcing the competitiveness of cities and its capacity to attract talent and investments." said Jordi Botifoll.
"This endeavor is part of Cisco's strategy in Mexico to support the country in their development of smart cities nationwide."
The networking company plans to share best practices from its other smart city initiatives. Recently, it unveiled a smart city in India that covers 2.6 million square feet of space, working with its public sector to transform the country into a Digital Nation.
The other previous initiatives were held in Spain and Australia.
Mauricio Navarro, President of the Fideicomiso Ciudad Creativa Digital Guadalajara welcomed Cisco, as the world leader in the networking arena, for this endeavor and expressed hope for future collaboration.
