The launch date was revealed in a note to app developers, telling them the Software Development Kit for the new Android 5.0 Lollipop is already available.
Google advised developers they can already start developing and testing apps through the new Android platform and publish apps which target the newest version to the Google Play store. The note ended with the reveal that the Android 5.0 Lollipop will be available on Nov. 3 to consumers.
After the Google Play and Nexus devices receive the Android 5.0 update, other devices will receive it depending on individual OEMs.
HTC, Samsung, Sony, Motorola, LG and other device makers will have their own schedules for rolling out the new Android 5.0 update over-the-air. HTC promised 90 days for its HTC One M7 and HTC One M8.
On the other hand, Motorola could roll out the update to its wide range of devices quickly. Sony committed to bring the Android 5.0 Lollipop release to all the Sony Xperia Z line while OnePlus promised to push out the new Android version within three months following Google's release of source codes.
Lastly, Samsung hinted the Android 5.0 update will come to the Galaxy Note 4 shortly.
